Do They Know?
“Do they know?” I thought to myself. This question has been on my mind heavily lately.
When I'm out in public, when I’m with both people I know well and people that I have just met. I wonder if they can tell that my life is different, if they see the change in my heart. “Do they know?”, I wonder over and over again, questioning if the people around me can see and feel Jesus living inside of me. I hope that the answer is yes.
Matthew 5:13-16 says, You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
This passage has been at the forefront of my mind and in a prayer that I am saying over myself constantly.
Am I keeping my saltiness?
In other words, am I loving well? Am I forgiving? Am I serving others? Am I striving to live as Jesus lived? And not only that, am I letting people see that in such a way that it will give glory to not me, but Jesus?
Sometimes life gets so crazy, we work, we go to school, we have families and problems, maybe we’re even in ministry, and in the midst of juggling all of these things it’s easy for us to forget why we are doing all of this. As followers of Jesus we are called to live differently. We are called to love through messes, forgive through pain, and serve when it isn't convenient. Not for us, not so that we may get the glory, but so He will.
Micah 6:8 says, He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Sometimes the bible can be confusing and it can get hard to tell what a passage means, but this one is pretty straightforward. What does the Lord require of us? He requires that we would do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly.
Ladies, lets do so much justice that when people look at us, and we wonder “Do they know?” the answer is a resounding yes.
Let’s love kindness so much that people look at us, and wonder why.
Let’s walk so humbly that when people look at us, our life is an arrow pointing straight to Jesus.
Let’s strive to never lose our saltiness, instead let’s be so full of zeal and passion for Jesus that our lives are full of flavor that gives HIM glory. Let’s let our lights shine so brightly that we don’t just impact one persons life, but that so many people would be touched by us doing justly, loving kindness, and walking humbly that countless people are led to Jesus and get to experience His love. Don't hide that light, it’s the source of everything we are! So today my question for you ladies is…Do they know?
